The History of Burlesque: The 20s and 30s
It is Wednesday and the start of a brand new burlesque term here at House of Trixie Blue. We are super excited to see our burlesque students this very evening. Not only are we back with our burlesque tuition, we have a an array of burlesque shows coming up that are for all tastes. Our first show is our collaboration with The Tyneside Cinema. It is the first in a series of burlesque productions introducing you to The History of Burlesque.
The History of Burlesque is an exciting series of burlesque shows concentrating on golden eras of genre. The night is like no other, combining live performances, film, audience participation and a historical narrative, told by Trixie Blue herself.
For our first instalment, we are taking you back to the 1920s/1930s, diving deep into the prohibition era and the rise and demise of burlesque in American culture, an era full of censorship, excitement and the femme fatale.
